Anne Toase

After studying for four years at Croydon and Hammersmith art colleges, I taught adult education classes at Newport, Isle of Wight.

As my personal style was developing, I worked mainly in watercolour and oil. Later I came to love the spontaneity of pure pigment working with pastel. More recently I returned to oil for its richness and subtle depth of colour. For the latest figurative studies I am using acrylic, which has an immediacy and brightness which suits the mood of the poses.

Figurative work was my first love and has been my enduring passion. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a great many talented life models over the years, and I continue to spend many hours in the life class honing my drawing skills.

My paintings have been mainly sold through exhibitions and galleries in London. I also occasionally accept commissions.
